Seema Chaturvedi
Biography
Ms. Chaturvedi has over 20 years of capital markets and
financial management experience. She has guided middle market
companies in defining growth trajectories and implementing
financial strategies to create stakeholder value. As an
entrepreneur, investment banker and investor, she brings a
unique perspective to the strategic planning and investment
process.
Ms. Chaturvedi is extremely
passionate about promoting entrepreneurship in general and
women entrepreneurship in particular. She founded and leads
as chairwoman TiE Global’s marquee women’s entrepreneurship
program: Project All India Roadshow for
Women’s Economic Empowerment through Entrepreneurship
(AIRSWEEE), for which she obtained funding from the US
Department of State for 6 consecutive rounds of funding and
has directly mentored 575 women from 97 Tier
2 and 3 cities in 20 states in India.
As
an impact outcome of AIRSWEEE, Ms. Chaturvedi is now
launching Achieving Women Entrepreneurs
(AWE) Early Growth Fund to invest in women owned, led,
influenced companies with the investment thesis that women
businesses can be a great investment for purposes of both
commercial returns and economic development impact.
Previously, she was founder and managing director
of Accelerator Group, LLC, an investment
banking and strategic advisory services firm. Prior to this,
she has worked with Amherst Partners, LLC,
Shearson Lehman and JM Financial Services
(later JM Morgan Stanley-Indian affiliate of Morgan Stanley)
As a prolific speaker, Ms. Chaturvedi was
invited to US Department of State’s US
Speakers Program in 2017. Additionally, she has participated
in several international conferences as a speaker and
panelist including Mackinac Leadership
Conference, IFC Healthcare Conference, Pravasi Bharatiya
Divas, TiE Summit and Private Equity in
India conferences.
To support economic
development, Ms. Chaturvedi has been a founding member of the
Great Lakes Manufacturing Council and has served on several
boards including co-chairing Michigan IT
Summit, Marygrove College in Michigan, International
Business Council at Automation Alley. She
served on the Economic Advisory Council
(EAC) of Center for American Progress,
Washington DC based progressive think-tank; the boards of TiE
Detroit, TiE Miami and TiE Global and the Miami-Dade
Urban Debate League. She is an invited
member of Indiaspora, a by invitation only
not for profit organization to amplify the impact of Indian
Americans.
She has promoted two chapters of
The IndUS Entrepreneurs (TiE) – a global organization with 64
chapters in 14 countries, with the mission of fostering
entrepreneurship in Michigan and South Florida, USA. She was
elected to the Global Board of Trustees of
TiE Global as the first woman member of the Board.
Ms. Chaturvedi has received several honors
including Crain’s Detroit Business “40 under
40”, Crain’s Detroit Business “Detroit’s Most Influential
Business Women,” Detroit Historical Society’s Detroit’s
Enterprising Women, Asian Indian Women’s Association’s Women
of Distinction, inducted to Michigan Hall
of Fame for Enterprising Women, Certificate of Recognition
from the US House of Representatives, named
Crain’s Detroit Influential Women in Tech,
and the Special Recognition Award for promoting Women
Entrepreneurship by TiE Global.
Ms. Chaturvedi holds a Masters degree in Finance from Boston
College and an undergraduate degree with honors in Economics
from Lady Shri Ram College of the Delhi
University in India.
Prachi Jain
Biography
Prachi has 12+ years of experience in private equity industry
in India and has thorough knowledge and experience of the
entire life cycle of the industry. She is a passionate
believer in gender lens investing.
Prior to
joining AWE Funds, Prachi was a core team member of SEAF
India Agribusiness Fund I and Fund II and played a pivotal
role in fund structuring and setting up these funds.
She has also worked with New Leaf- an investment
banking firm, Yes Bank and Ambit RSM (merged with
Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PWC)). She values the contribution a
mentor can make and has participated as an Evaluation
Committee member of a Virtual Incubation Platform of
Intellecap for the Start-up Companies.
Prachi
is a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of
India, Company Secretary Bachelor of Law (L.L.B.) Bachelor of
Commerce (B.Com)
Holly Flanagan
Biography
Holly is a Partner & Member of the Investment Committee of
AWE Funds. She has significant early stage investment and
operational experience. She is Managing Director of Gabriel
Investments, an investment firm focused on investing in
technology startups in the Philadelphia region. Her career
includes 20 years of business development experience
including senior sales roles at 4 venture-backed companies, 1
of which had a successful IPO and another that was acquired
by Barclays Bank for close to $300mm. She has deep experience
in channel / partnership sales and was responsible for
signing and managing many multi-million dollar customers. She
is a member of the Alliance of Women Entrepreneurs, the Forum
of Executive Women, and represents Gabriel Investments on the
board of DailyWorth, LLC. She serves on the Board of FS
Investments' Total Return Energy Fund and Credit Income
Funds. She is a member of Circle of Aunts and Uncles
Investment Group which provides low-interest loans & social
capital to under-resourced entrepreneurs. As an Eisenhower
Fellow, Holly has focused on women entrepreneurs and
investment in China.
Holly has worked with
Seema as a US Mentor, on Project All India Roadshow for
Women’s Economic Empowerment through Entrepreneurship
(AIRSWEEE), a US State Dept. funded women entrepreneurship

Padma Chandrasekaran
Biography
Padma Chandrasekaran has 25+ years of very rich experience as
an entrepreneur, technologist, prolific investor and an
operations expert in multiple industries including
healthcare, life sciences, analytics, IT, alternative energy,
education, in both the for-profit and not-for-profit world.
As an investor she has invested
across stages including Start Up, Early Growth, Expansion
stage companies and has seen full cycle investments from
inception through exits. As a founding member Padma has also
taken a company public on NASDAQ in the United
States.
She has also invested in five
(seed to private equity
stage) funds including funds of Fulcrum,
Unitus Ventures, TVS Capital. She is on the Advisory Board
of Unitus Ventures.
Padma’s
investment strategy is very studied and has delivered
impressive returns with her best investment returning 11.1X
(unrealized gains) and 8.3X (realized gains) times invested
capital.
She is an Executive Committee
member of The Chennai Angels (www.thechennaiangels.com),
an angel investing group, and an charter member and member of
the core Leadership team (for 4 years) of The
Indus Entrepreneurs (TIE) Chennai (http://chennai.tie.org/),
a non-profit dedicated to promoting entrepreneurship.
As an entrepreneur Padma has
experienced first-hand the challenges and opportunities of
building companies in India. She co-founded Virgil
Tech (P) Limited a platform-oriented software services
company in early 2001 and successfully exited to a strategic
acquirer in 2003.
Additionally, Padma was
one of the 4 founding members of Sify Ltd,
India’s first Internet company and part of the team that took
it public on NASDAQ in 1999.
As
a proponent of investing in Positive Impact - Padma has
operated in the not-for-profit world and understands
intimately the critical elements of creating sustainable
impact for large-scale programs. Between 2003 and 2011, she
worked full-time for the Bill & Melinda
Gates Foundation. She held responsibilities for strategy
development, program implementation, impact evaluation and
research in HIV prevention, maternal and child care and
vaccine development and delivery. While there were many
initiatives she led, one of her signature accomplishments was
creating a multidimensional evaluation strategy of the $250
million program being executed by the Gates
Foundation. The strategy was hugely successful in that for
the first time the Foundation and the Govt of India got a
picture of what the $250 m investment achieved. More
importantly the evaluation strategy became a global case
study because of the associated publication strategy. The
original paper is listed in her LinkedIn paper and continues
to be highly cited for large scale (eg Government) program
evaluations. Upon leaving Gates Foundation in 2011 as
full-time employee, Padma consulted for the Gates foundation
on various issues and continued to be on a few of their
advisory boards till end of 2016.
As
a senior advisor and Board member, Padma is very sought
after changemaker. She was on the board of CAMS
(Computer Aided Management Systems) and Sterling
Software between 2013 and 2018 and drove significant value
addition through robust board participation. She continues to
be a trustee of Algolabs, the AI / machine
learning initiative of the Chennai Mathematical Institute.
As a thought leader, Padma has
spoken at many forums including Madras Management
Association, Startup Grind, ICTACT (ICT Academy of Tamil
Nadu) Annual Polestar Awards for Business and IT. She has
authored several highly cited peer reviewed publications in
academic journals such as The Lancet and the
British Medical Journal.
Padma
began her career in IT / Internet sector at ICIM / ICL UK
working in Mumbai, Pune, UK and the Bay Area.
Padma
holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics
/ Statistics from the University of
Calcutta; an MBA from IIM
Ahmedabad and an MBA with specialization in
Telecommunications from the University
of San Francisco, California.
Scott Featherston
Biography
Scott is a very accomplished and seasoned investor with deep
operations expertise in Healthcare and Education sectors. He
is known for his prolific contributions to game changing,
impact investing strategies.
Scott is
currently the Chief Financial Officer & Director, Corporate
Development for George Health Enterprises, the company that
holds George Clinical. Scott was formerly the Global Health
Sector Lead and a Principal Investment Officer for the
International Finance Corporation, the private sector arm of
the World Bank Group. During his time at IFC, Scott led
numerous game changing and IFC’s Strategy defining
transactions in the health and education sectors in Africa,
MENA, South/East Asia, and Europe and founded the World
Bank’s Health in Africa initiative. He also established
global connects and drove a multiplier value creation effect
through his investments. He has previously lectured in
finance at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International
Studies (SAIS).
He is a currently a Board
Member of George Health Enterprises, Australia-based CRO,
pharmaceutical, and health technology company with a focus in
emerging markets; and Luminus — a Jordanian vocational
education company with MENA operations.
Scott’s
early career was in engineering and finance. He worked for a
global property and project management firm before joining
the finance advisory practice of a “Big 4” global consulting
firm. He holds Masters degrees from Johns Hopkins, SAIS and
University of Sydney in international affairs, Master’s and
Bachelor’s Degrees in Engineering Science from University of
Melbourne and engineering science.
Pravin Gandhi
Biography
Mr. Gandhi has over 30+ years of operational and investment
experience in US and India. He is Managing Partner of
Seedfund, an early stage venture fund, which he co-founded in
2006. Prior to that, he co-founded one of the first
technology company, Hinditron Computers and subsequently
Digital India Ltd. He co-founded India’s first technology VC
fund in 1999.
Mr. Gandhi is a member of Nasscom
Executive Council, President of Manufacturers Association of
Information Technology (MAIT) & a Global Board of Trustee of
TiE. Board of SINE, a tech incubator of IIT Mumbai. He is
also a Member of Board of Trustee of TIE Mumbai and
Investment Committee of Aavishkaar Bharath fund.
He
continues to be engaged with entrepreneurial community as an
angel investor both in commercial and impact sector and
enjoys mentoring .He is a board member of several companies.
Nish kotecha
Biography
Seasoned entrepreneur with a prolific and long track of executive and non-executive positions. Experienced in Technology, Retail, Impact investing, healthcare and social entrepreneurship. 28 years of professional and entrepreneurial experience including Barclays, JP Morgan Lehman Brothers and several entrepreneurial venture successes.
